Please keep your comments clean. If they fail the house rules (listed below), they will be removed.
And do try to keep your comments relevant and below 200 words. I may fail posts that are too long and also reject off-topic comments because I want to keep this blog focused.
If you see a post that is inappropriate, alert me by using the "complain about this comment" link and we will act accordingly.
Please note that this button should not be used to simply disagree with a commenter. It is there to alert the moderators to a post you feel breaks the house rules in some way.
Blog basics
For the uninitiated, blogs (or weblogs) work like this:
The most recent posts appear at the top of the page. And at the bottom of every entry:
• "Permalink" allows you to bookmark a particular post, or to send it by e-mail to a friend
• "Comments" invite you to offer your reaction to that entry, or read those of others
Comments are what set a blog apart from a traditional column because they create an immediate dialogue between the audience and author.
• "Bookmark with.." allows you to submit a post to your favourite community news-aggregation site, such as Digg, which ranks stories and links via a user-based ranking system.
• On the right-hand side of the blog are links to other related blogs. If you wish to be considered for inclusion, please email us here including a link.
• You can also use an RSS feed of this blog. Here's the help page.
House Rules
I reserve the right to fail messages which:
• Are considered likely to provoke, attack or offend others
• Are racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit, abusive or otherwise objectionable
• Contain swear words or other language likely to offend
• Break the law or condone or encourage unlawful activity. This includes breach of copyright, defamation and contempt of court.
• Advertise products or services for profit
• Are seen to impersonate someone else
• Repeatedly post the same or similar messages ('spam')
• Are unrelated to the topic
• Include contact details such as telephone numbers and postal or email addresses
• Are written in anything other than English - Tagalog and other languages may be used where marked
• Contain links to other websites which aren’t connected to the topics
• Describe or encourage activities which could endanger the safety or well-being of others
I may also close comments on a post if I think the discussion has become irrelevant or out of date.
I want to keep our blog as focused as possible. For this reason, messages not relevant to the post may be rejected.
Repeatedly posting personal or offensive comments about individual members of the public or may be considered harassment. I reserve the right to remove such messages and take action against those responsible.
